How to write a useful local business listing

Explain what you do, where you work and how to contact you—without keyword stuffing, fake claims or unclear service promises.

A business information sheet highlights services, location, opening hours and contact details.

A useful listing helps a person decide whether to contact a business. It should answer a few practical questions quickly, using information the business can maintain. This writing method can help prepare a website profile, a social page or a future directory entry; it does not imply that Hajaro listings are live.

Answer the customer’s first questions

State the business name, the type of work, the area served and the contact route. Add hours and a visitable address where appropriate. Distinguish a physical shop from a service that travels to customers.

Explain any essential limits clearly. A repair business might need the model number before quoting. A delivery service may cover a defined area. Avoid a broad promise that the staff will have to undo after every enquiry.

Write a concrete short description

Use a simple structure: what you do, who you help and how someone takes the next step. An invented example: “We repair household bicycles and replace common parts. Bring the bicycle to our workshop during opening hours, or call first to check whether we can handle your repair.”

This is an illustrative writing example, not a description of a real business. Replace every detail with something the owner can substantiate. Do not invent years of experience, licences, awards or customer counts to make the text sound established.

Use evidence and photographs responsibly

Choose clear, current photographs that you own or may publish. Avoid exposing customer information or depicting stock and facilities the business does not have. If the image is a concept or illustration, identify it as such.

Keep review quotations accurate and follow the destination platform’s rules. Do not manufacture testimonials or imply a verification badge that the platform has not granted. The listing should help a customer understand the business, not simulate outside endorsement.

Make maintenance part of the profile

Assign a person to review the description after a change in services, address, hours or contact details. Keep a master copy so updates do not drift across separate pages.

The takeaway

Write for a real customer making a practical decision. Clear services, honest evidence and maintained contact details are more useful than a list of repeated keywords.
